It’s that time of the year again when the farmers are busy in the fields, busy preparing for the winter months ahead. Chuck+Leanne Schwieterman’s family is no different! A few months ago, Leanna called us and asked if we would help capture some life on the farm as artwork for their new home. Of course we said yes! It’s fun to be able to take a step back from the day to day norm and photograph something different.
So… we donned our old boots and clothes and joined the family on the farm for an evening. Between milking, feeding and working in the fields, we were able to capture a sliver of what the working family farms day is so commonly like. It’s all about family. Generations coming together and working the land that was passed on to them. And whether is a family farm or a local family business, it’s easy to see the love, support and honor we have to the area we live in.
We thank you Schwieterman family for giving us an evening of your busy fall harvest to honor what it is you and all the other local families here do.
Tribal Creative Concept | Crew Model Shoot | Crew Model Team | Class of 2016
Our crew team girls have been patiently waiting to see a few images from the creative concept shoot we did with them at the beginning of June in Fort Recovery, OH. In the past, we’ve always done a special shoot with some of our models (a carload full), typically heading to Mansfield Reformatory. This year though, we wanted to do something with all the girls that could make it… hence the tribal themed creative concept shoot!
Let me just start off by saying… WE had a BLAST! We have such an AMAZING crew team this year. There is nothing they wouldn’t do… like stick their hair straight up in the air!
If you have worked with us before, you might know who Kate is. If you don’t, Kate is our collage summer help who has been with us for four years now. She did all the girls hair and updos! How talented is she? Sharon (Mara’s mom) came along and helped us out a ton by doing all the girl’s makeup. Mara, well she was all over the place… she has been begging to do a conceptual shoot forever! I of course work with each of the girls to capture their unique face paint, style and/or feather headdress. There are even a few shots of me while I was working (sometimes it’s fun to see things from the perspective of my camera).
The girls did freeze as it happened to be a very chilly June 1st morning (who would have thought!), but they handled it like champs! They either covered up under all the coats and blankets they could find or camped out in our cars with the heat blowing at 90 degrees!
Not quite all of our crew model team could make it (sadly we are missing a couple of them), but here are a few of our favorites from this fantastically fun shoot!

This is LONG over-due. The girls have been bugging us some, and we’ve been meaning to post these images for weeks now. Since we’re in our busy season, our ‘fun’ work gets pushed to the side while we work on our client work. That being said, I had a little free time this afternoon and made it a point to finalize some of our favorite images from the Mansfield trip that we took a few months ago with some of our senior models.
What fun we had! It’s about a three hour drive to the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, so we get to spend some quality time with a few of our models. Senior models Mandy, Jenna, Jenna & Olivia are the girls pictured in the images below. This years group was (a little quite, but) a blast to work with! They brought along fantastic urban, grunge and even a boho outfit or two… exactly the style of clothing we were hoping for.
It’s always a bit of an interesting process once we get there. We figure out hair and make-up from the parking lot. Always intriguing without a curling or flat iron! And then we’re basically able to walk the grounds of the building till we locate spots we’d like to photograph in. To some it could be a little random or unpredictable, but we manage just fine with what we’re given. And we end up with some really cool, beautiful images.
Let me say it again… IT’S SO MUCH FUN!
A big shout-out and thank you to the girls. They have a long day between the drive, waiting while we’re photographing, and being models in a humid, no air-conditioned building. We’re always thankful for the AC on the way home!
The old prison is just a neat piece of history that we have close to us. I encourage all of you to take a drive over and see it. And for you movie lovers, it’s where The Shawshank Redemption was filmed! Enjoy our view from Mansfield!
